Terms of use
Last updated:
These terms describe how MossAtlas works for readers, people who reply and invited writers. By using the site you agree to them.
A few definitions
“We”, “us” and “the MossAtlas team” mean the people who run this site. “You” means anyone using it. “Content” means anything published here, including posts, photos, profiles and replies.
Reading
Reading is free and needs no account. You may read, share links to and quote posts in the usual way, with credit to the writer. Republishing a whole post elsewhere needs the writer’s permission.
Replying
You can reply to posts with a name and a message. Every guest reply is reviewed, and we decide whether to publish it. You are responsible for what you write in a reply, so only post what you have the right to share.
Writer profiles
Writer accounts are by invitation only; there is no public sign-up. An invitation lets you publish on MossAtlas under these terms. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us through the contact page if you think someone else has used your account.
You are responsible for everything on your profile, including having the rights to the text and images you publish and following the community guidelines.
You keep ownership of your content. By publishing, you give us permission to host, store, display and distribute it as part of the service: on your profile, on topic pages and through RSS feeds. This permission exists only so the site can work. It ends when the content is removed, apart from copies already distributed outside the site, such as items in a reader’s feed app.
You can ask us to remove any post, or to close your profile and remove its posts, at any time through the contact page.
Shared rules
The community guidelines are part of these terms. In short: nothing illegal, deceptive or harmful, no harassment, no impersonation and no copying other people’s work.
Do not try to break, overload or get around the protections of the site, for example by flooding the reply or contact forms, probing for security weaknesses or scraping content in bulk in a way that slows the site for others. Feed readers and search engine crawlers are welcome.
Posts may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.
What we may do
We may decline to publish or remove content that breaks these terms or the guidelines, or that is the subject of a valid complaint. We may close a profile and withdraw its invitation after serious or repeated breaches. We aim to act fairly and in proportion, but we are not obliged to host any particular content.
If you find your work copied on MossAtlas without permission, contact us with the topic Copyright and include links to your original and to the copy.
The service as it is
MossAtlas is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it online and its content safe, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors or suitable for a particular purpose. Features may change, pause or stop, and the service as a whole may be changed or discontinued at any time. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the site or from content published by others. Writers are responsible for their posts and people who reply are responsible for their replies. Hosting content does not mean we endorse it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as MossAtlas changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means the new version applies to you.
Questions about these terms? Ask through the contact page, the only way to reach the team.
